Do I need a referral to get started?

Nope! You don’t need a referral to book speech therapy with us. You can book your first session with us by selecting “Book session” in the navigation bar. If you’re brand new to speech pathology and would like to ask some questions first, you can select ‘Free consult” to book a free 15 min consultation with our head speech therapist.

What happens during the very first session?

We start with a conversation to get to know you (or your child), your goals, and any concerns. Then we walk through a few fun, structured tasks to get a clearer picture of speech and language strengths and challenges. Afterward, we share our findings and next steps. This first session will last anywhere between 30 - 60 minutes and cost will depend on your geographic location (the range will be between $100 - $110).

What do I need for a virtual session?

All you need is a quiet space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone (like a tablet, laptop, or computer). We’ll take care of the rest — including sending any materials in advance if needed.

What if I’m not sure virtual is right for me?

Let’s talk about it. We offer free consults so you can see what it’s like before committing. And if it turns out virtual isn’t the best fit, we’ll help connect you to another provider who can support you in person.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Not right now — Wordbird is a virtual-first clinic. This allows us to serve more families, wherever they are, and to keep therapy flexible and accessible. Waitlists across Canada can be disheartening, which is why we’ve built Wordbird to offer timely support from top-tier professionals — without the long wait and without compromising on quality. It’s world-class care, right from your living room.

Where do you offer virtual therapy?

We’re fully online and licensed to serve families across PEI and Ontario.

Can I pause therapy or take a break?

Absolutely. Life happens. If you need to take a break, just let us know — we’ll pick back up when you’re ready.
